Hello, my name is Jaqlyn. I am a native English-speaking female from Seattle, Washington USA.
I have over 10 years of experience as an English tutor/teacher for advanced beginner through advanced levels. My speech is clear easy to understand and accent free. My passion is for building students’ confidence, and getting them to speak. In just a few lessons, students begin to feel comfortable and break down the barriers preventing them from speaking. Lessons focus less on grammatical structure and more on usable language skills so that students are better prepared for communication and conversation. For higher-level students the focus is on the nuances, colloquial speech, as well as cultural understanding for appropriate situational application. All topics are approached to help students prepare for how to be comfortable in navigating conversations, including situations that potentially are uncomfortable. After a few months students feel real progress and confidence in communicating with both native and non-native speakers for travel or work.
My approach to teaching is modern and relaxed. Therefore, if your goal is to communicate and not to be stuck in grammar paralysis then I am the right teacher for you!
A bit about me on a personal note. I moved to Moscow, Russia, in 2014. My hobbies are anything creative and hands on with an emphasis on practical use or wellness. My primary hobbies are dressmaking (sewing clothes), cooking, and DIY projects. Additionally I enjoy deepening my spiritual practices of meditation and being in nature.
