Hello everyone! My name is Valeria, and I am a teacher of Russian as a foreign language.
I'm here to help you reach your Russian-language goals – and to make sure you enjoy the journey!
I graduated from the Philology Department of Saint Petersburg State University with a specialization in Russian as a Foreign Language. In my lessons, I follow a combined approach that balances conscious practical learning with communicative methodology. That means we'll work both on understanding the rules of Russian and all its nuances, and on developing the ability to speak Russian fluently and correctly in a variety of topics and real-life situations. At the beginner stage, I use English as a medium of instruction or provide translation into your native language.
I love learning about the culture and history of different countries – and, of course, Russian culture in particular, so that I can share that knowledge with my students. I'm passionate about cinema and theatre, and I love to read. I perform with a theatre studio and enjoy trying out new hobbies – I'm always eager to learn something new! Lately, I've been into yoga and caring for houseplants, and I'm learning to crochet as well as to play the guitar and the piano.
Whatever your interests and passions may be, I'm confident that we'll find common ground and work together productively on your Russian!
